The problems with the excising wash systems the trade are using are:

Conventional glass washer detergents – too caustic and it causes etching on the glassware, too weak and they are left dirty. So the majority of operators use a mild detergent. That’s fine, but over a period there will be protein residue build up on the glassware and simply become dirty - that is better than etching on your glassware which is where the glass surfaces are actually being eaten away, causing permanent damage.
